Say what you want to Say

I enjoy the car business, especially other dealers. You know when other dealers have opinions of me and my business but they never say them to me then they mean a whole lot to me. I think that we can take this as a lesson in life.
No matter what people think if they don't say it to you directly then it doesn't matter. For example there are several dealers here in the Denver area that think myself and my company are a joke. Great, this opinion usually comes from the fact that I have taken customers from them or my customers say something in front of them about how good a job we do.
Usually insecurity leads to opinion especially opinions that are made to third parties. Take this lesson into your everyday life, do not get upset with someone's opinion of you or what you do especially if they have not voiced that opinion directly to you. It is more than likely a defense mechanism they have in them to cover for their own insecurities or jealousies they have toward you.
Remember if you have an opinion about something or someone it does no good what so ever to voice to a third party. If it is a real honest and truth based opinion then it should go directly from your mouth to the person's ears that it is about. Otherwise you just look like a giant asshole that has nothing better to do than bitch about your life or your current situation.
By the way if there are any car dealers that read this at all, remember the world is steadily becoming harder and harder to do business in. With the internet and other forms of instant information available to potential customers we are all doing the best we can. I truly believe in the near future that customers will solely deal with dealerships with flawless reputations and very good attitudes. We all need to remember that.

Buying and Selling

In the current market place if you are looking at buying a highline/exotic vehicle you are in the cat birds seat. The problem is most people that are looking to buy have to sell and that is going to take a little gut check. The market is depressed and the deals are there if you are patient. Patient buyers will always make out in the end.

Pebble Beach, Monterey, Carmel 2009

As a car nut it is always fortunate that I get to spend the month of August in Carmel, CA. During the day I have the fortune of being around, 8c's, 430's, 356's, 722's, 599's, 360's, 911's, 912's, 914's, 962's and etc. At night get to go out and eat a good meal with my wife, my baby get's to hang out with the grandparents and I get to walk home holding hands with my wife smoking a cigar and look at 8c's, 430's, 356's, 722's, 599's, 360's, 911's, 912's, 914's,962's and etc. This area of the world means one thing in August and that is cars. I hope that everyone gets to go just once, hear the engines and smell the fuel during the day and hear and smell the ocean at night. It is one of those places that make you feel home, like your house Christmas Eve surrounded by friends and family, you are warm, safe and loved. If you want to go let me know I will be more than happy to be your tour guide, but be prepared, octane by day and wine by night is a intoxicating thing and you may not want to leave.

Doing Better

With the upcoming events in Monterey I will do my best to keep the postings up on everything that is going on out there. I am leaving Monday and will be totally immersed in Automobile Utopia.
I love cars and the car business, it is a strange and wonderful industry that can bring the best and worst out of people. So far this month we have sold cars, bought cars for people who backed out of the transaction, dealt with delays, but all in all we are still in the fight. I wouldn't have it any other way.
The car market has come back to life a little and The Motorsports Gallery is positioned to take advantage of some great pricing and financing that is available for our customers.
We are working on bringing new and unique inventory everyday.

Carfax

Carfax has flooded the airwaves with advertising the past couple of months. Be careful out there, just because there is a clean Carfax does not mean that the car has never had any damage. If you pay cash to fix a car then it will not show up on Carfax.

Banks, Banks, Banks

So the government has regulated the banks so much that a guy with a 760 credit score, that makes $32,000 a month, $1000 a month mortgage, 1 credit card and had one negative on his credit four years ago can't buy a $40,000 car. But if you have a heartbeat and you are trying to make it the government will give you $8,000 cash on a house you can't afford in the first place. What is our world coming to? I want people to be happy but the government is a government and not a business, most of them have never run a business or they have been politicians for so long they forget how to run a business. This is going on a long dark path. Hope you have a flashlight.

Trust, Relationship, Honesty

Three words that mean nothing in the car business and that is on the dealer and customer side. The customer side is getting worse by the minute. Want to know why dealers have such a bad name because they are dealing with people that waste their time and will spend $100 to save $1. The world has spun out of control, or is it me? Was I brought up in such a different time and place that you build relationships and it may take longer but the outcome is so much better than saving $1000. I have bent over backwards to please my customers, hell I have even lost money so that I have a solid reputation and nobody cares because I can't save them that extra $1000 on a $125,000 car.
Beyond me some days.
But I do love it. I love the car business those days when you know you have found exactly what someone has been looking for and they love it.

Solve the problem

Why is it that so many people try to figure out who to blame instead of bypassing that and just solving the problem no matter who caused it? It is a complete waste of time to try and figure out why, when your customer is sitting there with a problem. Just solve the customers problem, then go back to why. Customer service is dead, I am building an auto dealership completely on service. I know, I know everyone will tell me it can't be done. But no will tell me why it can't be done.
See you in the trenches.

Used Car Salesman

A good knowledgeable salesman is a dying breed. I know because I deal with the salesmen everyday, want to sell more cars learn about your product. Don't just take what the company tells you to say actually put some time into your car education instead of your golf swing.

Some People's Kids

Why do some people like to come into dealerships and talk about how they are going to buy this and buy that? What is the point, I understand that most people don't think much of car dealers and salesman, we are greasy, slimy and shady. But we are a group of people on the most part that work very hard and take this job very seriously. I do understand were I stand on societies ladder but that does not give people the right to come and waste our time. We have bills to pay and families to feed. I can talk cars all day and happy to do it. If you need a ego boost a car dealership is not the place to do it. I usually know in the first couple of minutes weather you can buy the car or not and if you can't and act like you can, you really don't want to know the kind of laughs we have at your expense.

9ff Cayenne Monster

Only one in North America.
When Da vinci met Jr.

I love this job

What other business can you sell a product and warn the buyer there may be some gremlins that pop up and still be a jerk for not wanting to pay for all the repairs. When you buy a sub $10k car that is used, I can look at it, drive it, inspect it but it still may have some issues.
My company made $500 on a car deal and the client wanted us to pay for $4000 in repair work? We offered to pass along our cost from our service center to help but they took it to one of the most expensive shops in town.
Repeat I love this job.

Trust

Maybe I am a simpleton from Kentucky, but when did people stop trusting? I run a honest, fair business where the truth is number one. If I believe that you are buying too much car, I will tell you. Don't get me wrong I have been screwed, but the thing is you cannot just shut down and treat everyone as a liar and a thief. A lot of bad things have happened through out the years in the auto industry, but to treat all car dealers as if they are lying all the time is wrong. There are some that absolutely are the scum of the earth and I recognize that, but there is the rest of us.

Dealer to Dealer sales are so screwed up right now and I blame the dealers themselves. Most dealers get so greedy that they will do business without checking on the reputation of the dealer. I always call around and find out about the dealer if I have never done business with them before.

Customers and potential customers have to do their research as well, there are plenty of people to ask and find out what kind of car dealer you are potentially working with. In the case of The Motorsports Gallery, I will tell you to do your homework on us.

The world is a different place today and business is getting harder and harder. I believe if we inject a little cautious trust into the system it might go a long way to helping the hard times not be so hard.

With ease,

The Motorsports Gallery

DEALS, DEALS

What a truly amazing time we are experiencing in the car business right now. The perception is that there are nothing but deals out there and they are only going to get better. This is some merit to this, there will be some marquees that will drop some more, but a huge majority of brands have found a bottom. Now whether that is a soft bottom or not is yet to be seen.

If you are looking for a car and you have the means by all certainty now is the time to buy. The U.S. vehicle inventories of high-end and exotic cars is shrinking with a full year, last year, of a weak dollar a lot and I mean a lot of good color combination and good optioned cars made their way to Europe.

On the other hand if you are going to trade in a vehicle, here's the rub. It is going to hurt, but you have to look at the money you will be saving on the new car, there is always a price to pay to play.

Financing, contrary to popular belief there is financing out there and we can get it done for you.

As always,

With Ease
